Cher is vying for the dishonor of being the celebrity to publish the most bigoted tweets in history.

In May she reluctantly apologized for a series of nasty tweets about Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney and “his right-wing, racist, homophobic, women-hating, teabagger masters.” But the apology sounded insincere when, only days later, she blasted Romney for attracting predominantly white, heterosexual audiences.

Today she targeted Romney’s Mormon religion with a wisecrack about “magic underwear” — a derogatory term for the temple garments some Mormons wear.
